Fort Sumter Tours Inc. and SpiritLine Cruises LLC have been owned and operated since 1961 by two generations of the Campsen family. The companies run tours to historic Fort Sumter and through the Charleston harbor, and offer dinner cruises and private charters for weddings, corporate events and receptions. 

Fort Sumter Tours has a partnership with the National Park Service, providing the only commercial boat transportation to Fort Sumter National Monument, where the Civil War began. Visitors take a 30-minute, fully-narrated ride to Fort Sumter, where they learn many historic facts about Fort Sumter and the Civil War. At Fort Sumter National Park, historians provide guests comprehensive orientation with detailed information about the historic landmark and its pivotal role in the Civil War. Guests may visit the onsite museum, as well.

Affiliated company SpiritLine Cruises LLC offers non-stop, narrated harbor tours, taking visitors on a leisurely 90-minute cruise past the palatial homes of Charleston's famous Battery, the Arthur Ravenel bridge, Waterfront Park, Patriots Point, Fort Sumter, Fort Moultrie and Charleston’s seaport. They have also teamed up with GrayLine Bus Tours and Old South Carriage Tours to offer land and sea tour packages for visitors.

In the evenings, the company runs dinner cruises through Charleston Harbor. The three-hour tour allows guests to view the beauty of Charleston’s skyline while dining on a three- or four-course gourmet meal. After dinner, there is live music and dancing on each of the two dining decks.

The company’s fleet of vessels, including the Spirit of the Lowcountry, the largest commercial passenger vessel in Charleston, are also available for weddings, receptions and private charters by groups, businesses and organizations.

Fort Sumter Tours and SpiritLine Cruises have also taken care to adhere to the strictest of environmental standards so they leave as little impact on the natural ecosystems of the Lowcountry as possible. The companies comply with the stringent standards established by the International Organization for Standardization.
